MedStar Georgetown Distinguished Achievement Award in Diabetic Limb Salvage

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is honored to present Richard F. Neville, MD, FACS, DFSVS with the 2026 MedStar Georgetown Distinguished Achievement Award in Diabetic Limb Salvage.

Richard F. Neville, MD, FACS, DFSVS is Associate Director of INOVA Schar Heart and Vascular, as well as Chief of Vascular Surgery/Wound Care/Hyperbaric Medicine. Dr. Neville has an academic appointment as Professor of Medical Education at the University of Virginia, and Professor of Surgery at George Washington University where he previously held the position of Ludwig Chief of Vascular Surgery. He also served as Chief of Vascular Surgery at Georgetown University in the past.  Dr. Neville completed medical school at the University of Maryland and then a general surgery residency at Georgetown University before moving on to a fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in endovascular device development. Dr. Neville completed a vascular surgery fellowship under the direction of Dr. Robert Hobson.

Dr. Neville is a Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of other national and international vascular societies. He is the Vice-President (President elect) of the Critical Limb Ischemia Society. Dr. Neville is an international lecturer who has also published over 200 manuscripts, 300 abstracts, 35 book chapters, and 250 invited lectures while remaining actively involved in research and the education of students, residents, fellows, and other physicians. He has consistently been named to the Best Doctors in America, Washingtonian Top Docs, and Who’s Who in the World. His clinical interests include lower extremity revascularization, wound healing, and amputation prevention.
