MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is honored to present Dane K. Wukich, MD with the 2022 MedStar Georgetown Distinguished Achievement Award in Diabetic Limb Salvage.
Dane K. Wukich, MD is nationally recognized foot and ankle surgeon, educator, lecturer, and researcher. He has written more than 100 papers and presented lectures around the world. He serves as peer reviewer for 11 journals, and is the author or co-author of several book chapters dealing with foot and ankle problems in athletes and patients with diabetes. His research interest includes the complications of circular external fixation in patients with diabetes, foot and ankle problems in post-transplant patients, and treatment of spastic deformities of the foot and ankle in patients with traumatic brain injury and/or stroke.
Currently he is a professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UT Southwestern. He also is the Dr. Charles F. Gregory Chair in Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also the Medical Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at UT Southwestern University Hospitals.
Dr. Wukich has held leadership roles in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Diabetes Association, American Orthopaedic Association, and other societies. He has frequently been named a Castle Connolly “Top Doc” in orthopaedic surgery. In 2007, he was the recipient of the UPMC Golden Apple Award in recognition of his teaching efforts.
